INRAT

How Hard Is the INRAT?

Why many Canadian pilots find the INRAT harder than PPL or CPL writtens, and how to study accordingly.

The INRAT has a reputation as one of the more demanding written exams a private or commercial pilot will meet before the IATRA or ATPL exams. Whether it is hard for you depends on who you are, how recently you have flown IFR, and how you prepare. This article explains where the difficulty comes from, who finds it hardest, and what a sensible plan looks like. It also covers pilots who are not chasing a first rating at all: those brushing up on IFR or returning to it after a lapse.
